On Friday, just before noon, the Lyndhurst Fire Department responded to a report of an outside fire in the 100 block of Page Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered flames burning against the rear of a single-family home, with fire having extended into the basement through a rear window.
Thanks to the swift and efficient actions of responding crews, the fire was quickly brought under control, limiting the damage to a small portion of the basement. No injuries were reported, and the residents were able to remain in their home.
“This incident is a strong reminder of the importance of quick reporting and our department’s rapid response capabilities,” said a department spokesperson. “Because of that, the damage was minimal and no one was displaced.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Lyndhurst Fire Department urges all residents to keep the area around their homes clear of combustible materials and to check that smoke alarms are in working order.
Fire Prevention Tip: Keep outdoor areas around your home free of dry leaves, debris, and other flammable materials, especially near vents, windows, and foundations.
